You work hard at your career, home, extra-curricular activities, attend church, and complete your Bible Study almost daily, but somehow it just doesn't all fit together. How do some people seem to enjoy a well rounded full life with God in the middle of so much activity? Tune in to discover three ways to "Successfully life everyday life with God!"

In every show, I strive to give you practical ways to live the Christian life and not just give you catchy terms to go figure out. When rubber meets the road, what do you do? On this program, let's look at How to Successfully Live Everyday Life with God!

To Successfully Live Everyday Life with God, we must:

  1. Yield to God throughout the day
  • Is it possible to do this with our busy schedules?
  • Is it possible to do in such a corrupt world?
  • Can we be Christians, but still live defeated lives? Yes, and in fact, too many Christians do!
  • What is a successful life with God, anyway?

We don't live a rich powerful life in Christ because we compartmentalize our lives. We break our lives into separate, unrelated areas. We put work over here, home over there, and continue to compartmentalize all areas such as sports, church, Bible Study, family, religion, career, finances, pleasure, etc.

Bible Study:
You take the time to do a daily Bible study and prayer time with God. Way to go! This is wonderful! When you are done, you mentally check off the box that you have completed the task, and think that you've spent your time with God today. From there, you proceed to live your day in your own way. No need to bother God with anything more. You can handle it.

Did you know that the Bible doesn't talk about a daily Bible study time? The Bible continuously reiterates to have a daily moment by moment interaction with God. A Daily Quiet time with God is necessary for sure! But we mistaken it for the only time we need to focus on God or seek His direction.

Work: a fellow business person comes to you and just let's you have it verbally for some reason. At this point, a compartmentalized person will not even think about God. They will just do what comes humanly naturally. A Christian who is yielding to God throughout the day will stop and ask God for wisdom and direction. He will ask for help to understand the situation with Godly wisdom and ask God for the proper way to respond.

At home, your spouse is sick with a disease and you can't fix. A compartmentalized person will worry and try to figure out what to do on his own. A yielded Christian will seek God's wisdom, comfort and direction.

You own a business and you are having money problems in a tough economy. A compartmentalized person will fret; become agitated and take his frustrations out on his family and employees. A yielded Christian will stop and take the entire situation to God, asking Him for direction and wisdom. A yielded Christian may seek help from other, wise Christian business leaders.

You are part of your school's PTA group and there are some trouble maker parents in the group. A compartmentalized person will act in his own will, but a yielded Christian will seek God, tell Him all about the situation and ask for wisdom and direction.

Biblical Examples:

Daniel was in the lion's den. He didn't ignore God and just try to figure out how to deal with the lions. He was in constant prayer!

Paul was in prison. Did Paul just sit there for 30 minutes in prison and prayed to God and then said, "God, okay, we're done for the day. I have to go now and figure out on my own how to handle this prison situation."

David was in the desert. He didn't just spend 30 minutes with God and then said, "See ya, God. I've got a king running after me trying to kill me and need to take care of it."

David's devotional journal is the Psalm's. Read what David did throughout his days. He continuously included God in everything. The times that he didn't, he got himself in serious trouble.

A Yielded Christian Life

In a yielded Christian's life, God is always the center. God is always included.

The Psalmist said, "Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord. They rejoice in Your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. For You are their glory and strength…Psalm 89:15-17a

(acclaim – to praise, applaud)
(exult – to rejoice greatly, as in triumph)

Jesus must be at the center of everything, not just the center of your life at church or when you do your daily Bible Study, as if checking off the box of completion.

A complete, whole life with God means an undivided life.

To Successfully Live Everyday Life with God, we must:

  1. Focus on God and Enjoy His presence
  • Is there anything that you love more than God?
  • Is there anything that you serve more than God?
  • Is there anything that you trust more than God?
  • Is there anything that you fear more than God?
  • God doesn't want A place in your life. He wants 1st Place in your life.

We each have a spiritual void in our lives, an empty place that we desperately want to fill. We'll try to fill it with objects or habits, anything to which to focus our attention or affections. This really becomes idol worship. It will occupy our passion, time, and energy.

  • Is there anything or anyone in your life that takes precedence over God? …A car, a job, a relationship, a pleasure? What do you think about most of the day? Do you include God in it?

God does want us to enjoy the blessings that He gives! He just doesn't want us to enjoy the things more than our relationship with Him. When we do, we will end up putting these things first in our lives and then our entire lives, day by day, little by little, get off center and then we create unnecessary problems for ourselves. Staying focused on God is the key. God says to "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

To Successfully Live Everyday Life with God, we must:

  1. Live in the Fullness of His Freedom

Satan wants us to live in the hurt of the past. God wants us to live in the healing He has given! In other words, Satan is the hurt dealer, God is the hurt healer.

I know people whose entire demeanor has changed because of what they have allowed themselves to think about 24 hours a day. At one time, I could carry on a conversation with them, but now, it's nearly impossible. Their minds are so jumbled and corrupted because they have allowed themselves to be consumed with their personal problems. They are no fun to be around, always bringing havoc into everyone else's lives. The world always revolves around them. I've seen people who constantly live in the past.

Maybe someone did something to you in the past that was extremely hurtful. Do you let it consume you? That's letting Satan have control over your mind.

Maybe you did some of the most terrible things in your past, causing grief to others, you had an abortion and you live with the guilt of it, you made some bad decisions and now you and your family will pay for them the rest of your life. Satan wants you to be consumed with these things. He wants you to live in the hurt of them and unforgiveness.

God says, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28)  God says that He has washed away every sin. It is forgotten. Gone. Listen to me. Nothing that you have done in your past is bigger than God's love! Nothing!

Romans 8:38-39 says this "…neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." But you say, "Sharon, you just don't know what I've done!" I don't have to. I know God and I know what He says. He knows all about your failures. Yet, He still says He loves you. Nothing can separate you from God's love. It's time to start living in the freedom of his love today!

2 Corinthians 10:5  "…and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

We have the power to control our minds!

Jesus wouldn't sacrifice His life for us and then leave us to live defeated, unfulfilled lives! Look what Jesus says in John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full!" NIV

Another version says I have come that they may have, and have it abundantly! Backing up a little in the passage, the NLT says, "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life!"

Salvation Prayer/Rededication

If you have never made peace with God and would like to now, then I invite you to pray with me. Jesus' passion in coming to earth was for you. He loves you and nothing in your past is stronger than His love for you. The Bible says that nothing can separate us from His love!

Psalm 103:11-12  says, "For a high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us." He wants to be the Lord and Savior of your life and he desires for you to live in Heaven with him forever. If this is your desire, then pray with me.

Lord, you said that "Your righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. You said that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by Your grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:22-23) I have sinned and have been holding on to the pain that others have thrown at me. Please forgive me for my sins and help me to forgive all others who have treated me so badly. I desire to turn away from my sins and to turn to You. Jesus, You are the Son of God and you died on the cross for my sins. Come now and be the Savior and Lord of my life. I need you. Amen.

Now, you need to grow your faith. Find someone and tell them of your wonderful decision to follow Christ! Find a solid church and seek direction from loving Christians. None of us can go at it alone. God set it up for us to fellowship with each other.

Let us know of your decision!
