How to Be Free Series:

When I was a teenager, I struggled in my belief that God loved me unconditionally. I knew in my mind that God loved me, but I based some of my beliefs on my feelings. I believed the lie that if I didn't feel loved by God then something must be wrong between us. Through that struggle, I came to the conclusion that we must know two things: 1) who we are in Christ and 2) learn how God truly sees us.

This Program:

On this program, we are going to learn some of the truths of who we are in Christ by understanding some of the ways we are Secure in Him! Come an be set free from living under the burden of lies that satan wants you to believe in your mind!

I AM SECURE

  1. I am Free forever from Condemnation.

Romans 8:1-2 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."
  2. I am assured that all works together for good.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose."
  3. I am free from any charge against me.

Romans 8:31-34 NLT "What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won't He also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for His own? No one- for God Himself has given us right standing with Himself. Who then will condemn us? No one - for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us."
  4. I cannot be separated from the love of God.

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
    • There is nothing we can do to earn God's love.
    • We can't make Him love us and we can't keep Him from loving us.
    • God's love is constant. It does not change.
    • God's motivation for loving us and forgiving us is the motivation from His own heart. Even when we walk away, He loves us.
    • His love does not waver according to if we do good or fail.
    • Simply, God's love is based on who He is, and not on us.
  5. I am established, anointed, and sealed by God.

1 Corinthians 1:21-22 "Now it is God who makes both of us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

1 Corinthians 1:21-22 NLT "It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and He has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that Guarantees everything He has promised us."
  6. I am hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:3-4 NLT "For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory."

I just had to read verse 4 as well. We are promised we will be with Him!
  7. I am confident that the good work God has begun in me will be perfected.

Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
  8. I am a Citizen of Heaven.

Philippians 3:20 "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ."
  9. I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God did not give us a spirt of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline. (Sound mind) (Timidity here means shameful panic, fear that makes us a coward)

New King James Version (NKJV) "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Amplified Bible "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self control."
  10. I can find grace and mercy in my time of need.

Hebrews 4:15-16 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
  11. I am born of God; the evil one cannot touch me.

1 John 5:18 NLT "We know that God's children do not make a practice of sinning, for God's Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. and now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ, He is the only true God, and He is eternal life."

Another important note that I want you to see in this passage is that as Christians we live in FELLOWSHIP with God! God Gives US understanding through His Holy Spirit. We don't have to rely on a priest or pastor to read the Bible to us. God has given us this Bible to read and memorize and study for ourselves. I'm not saying that we should not go to church. I'm speaking here about your personal relationship with God.
